Infoprensa FIM CEV Repsol 2020/50: Roll call of Champions: Portimao shows off the best of the FIM CEV Repsol

14/12/2020

The final FIM Moto3™ World Championship race of the season in Portugal was a drama-filled thriller, but there was also something especially notable once the dust settled. As FIM CEV Repsol alumnus Albert Arenas took the crown, the battle at the front saw the last three FIM Moto3™ Junior World Champions lock out the podium.

Ahead of a move to Moto2™ following some incredible performances this season in the lightweight class, the spotlight belonged to Raul Fernandez. The 2018 FIM Moto3™ JWCh put in a stunning ride to simply disappear at the front, stamping some serious authority on his final appearance in Moto3™ and taking his second win of the season.

Behind him, the calibre of FIM CEV Repsol alumni continued to shine. The podium came down to a battle for supremacy between Dennis Foggia, the 2017 FIM Moto3™ JWCh, and his 2019 counterpart, Jeremy Alcoba. Ultimately, Foggia came out on top in Portimão to take second place, but Alcoba also came away with a milestone: his first Grand Prix podium. Only days after wrapping up the Rookie of the Year title, the rostrum finish underlines Alcoba's impressive debut season.

2021 will now see more FIM Moto3™ JWCh graduates take on the Grand Prix paddock, with the likes of 2020 Champion Izan Guevara and frontrunners Xavi Artigas and Pedro Acosta making their debuts. Will they be next to take to the podium? Find out from March as MotoGP™ returns - and tune in for the 2021 FIM CEV Repsol season as more future challengers continue their journey on the Road to MotoGP™.
